USA Labels Hungarians as a 'National Security Risk', Bans them from Getting Visas

 

The US is tightening its visa requirements for Hungarian passport holders. The reason is stated to be that a large number of ethnic Hungarians living in other countries have been granted Hungarian citizenship. The Hungarian government accuses Joe Biden of taking “revenge” on Hungarians in this way.

 

Nearly one million foreigners have been granted Hungarian passports in the past nine years, according to the AP.

 

These are ethnic Hungarians who live outside Hungary, including in countries such as Serbia and Ukraine.

The United States therefore says it considers Hungarian citizens a security risk, and therefore limits their opportunities to obtain visas under the so-called Visa Waiver Program.
