Algerian attacks several people with a knife: Serious riots in Dublin


A 50-year-old man attacked several people with a knife in the center of the Irish capital Dublin - including three children. As a result, there were serious riots on Thursday evening. The knife attacker is said to be Algerian.

A police spokesman blamed the attacks on right-wing extremist hooligans who committed serious acts of violence. “We are bringing in reinforcements to deal with this,” the spokesman said, according to RTÉ. Videos on social media show a store being looted.

The reason for the riots: In front of a primary school in the center of Dublin, a 50-year-old man stabbed in the afternoon, seriously injuring a five-year-old girl and a woman. The man is said to be an Algerian migrant, but the police have not yet confirmed this.


Two other children also suffered minor injuries. Passers-by reacted quickly and disarmed the suspect. The suspect, who was arrested on site, is also said to have serious injuries.
