Denmark deploys the military to protect Israeli and Jewish institutions from Islamists

The police force in Denmark is no longer sufficient to protect Israeli and Jewish institutions. Now the government must deploy the military in its own capital to ensure the safety of Jews.

From December 6th, the Danish armed forces will support the police in securing, among other things, the Israeli embassy and the synagogue in Copenhagen. “The terrorist threat in Denmark is serious,” said Defense Minister Troels Lund Poulsen.

The police are already at capacity due to the Palestinian protests and right-wing extremist actions and are therefore receiving support from army units.

As in many European countries, after the Hamas attack on Israel there were large Islamist protests in which the demonstrators expressed solidarity with the terrorists and uninhibitedly incited hatred against Jews.

Particularly shocking: In the center of Copenhagen, demonstrators waved the flag of the Islamist organization Hizb ut-Tahrir, whose goal is to establish a caliphate. “Allahu Akbar” (God is great), they shouted and called for “jihad” – war against all infidels.

Justice Minister Peter Hummelgaard said he had spoken to the Jewish community about the threat, which very much welcomed the army's protection. “It makes a huge impression,” said the minister.

Of Denmark's 5.9 million inhabitants, around 250,000 are Muslims and 7,000 are Jews. The Social Democratic government has been pursuing a strict migration policy for years, which is one of the toughest in Europe. Nevertheless, there is also a problem with Islamism in Denmark.
