Germany: Muslim students place the Koran above German laws
Hanover - Politicians of various stripes have reacted with horror to a study that suggests students in Lower Saxony place the Koran above German laws. In the survey by the Criminological Research Institute of Lower Saxony (KFN), 67.8 percent of those surveyed agreed with the statement: “The rules of the Koran are more important to me than the laws in Germany.” In addition, almost half (45.8 percent) said they were Islamic theocracy is the best form of government.
The institute surveyed around 8,500 ninth grade students in Lower Saxony, including around 300 Muslims. According to this, one in five Muslim students has an Islamist attitude. 18.1 percent considered violence to enforce and spread Islam to be justified. However, the authors noted that the evaluation could not be considered representative.
CDU man de Vries: “Multiculturalism has long since failed”
The CDU member of the Bundestag Christoph de Vries warned the Bild newspaper against “systematic indoctrination” of the students. “The study shows how deep the traces that political Islam has already left in Germany are.” Children would not be born with such attitudes. “Multiculturalism has long since failed. “Clarity and consistency are now needed if the advance of the intolerant is to be stopped,” demanded the interior expert.
Schleswig-Holstein’s School Minister Karin Prien (CDU) described the results as “shocking”. She told the paper: “It is obviously not possible to convey democratic values, which threatens to undermine social cohesion. Families, schools, the state centers for political education, but not least the youth work of the mosque communities are responsible.” Politicians must also take a critical look at social networks such as TikTok.
Hamburg's school senator Ksenija Bekeris (SPD) reacted in the same way. The evaluation is “alarming”. What is now needed is “a significant strengthening of democracy education in schools”. However, such a survey is currently not available for the Hanseatic city or other federal states.
Islamism in the classroom
It was only announced in January that a group of Islamist-oriented young people had formed at a school in Neuss, North Rhine-Westphalia. This “Sharia police” apparently repeatedly pressured their teachers and classmates to submit to Islamic law in everyday life. They are also said to have called for the introduction of Sharia law in class. A month later, the Cologne police made similar cases public.
A student from Essen told Junge Freiheit about her experiences with radical Islamic classmates. She was beaten and asked not to eat during the Muslim holy month of Ramadan. Out of self-protection, the 17-year-old followed her tormentors' instructions.
