Why European Combines Are Taking Over American Wheat Farms 

 

Wheat harvest in the Great Plains runs on a clock that does not negotiate. The window between grain at peak condition and grain you're taking a dockage hit on can be seventy-two hours. Sometimes less. One combine down is not a mechanical inconvenience. 

 

It is the difference between a profitable year and a year you're explaining to your lender. Every wheat farmer in Kansas, Montana, and eastern Washington understands this in their bones. The machine has to run. It has to run right. And it has to run when you need it, not when a dealer technician three counties over has an opening in his schedule.
