Austria: police officer investigated for saying "this is my country"

Vienna - During a police operation in Vienna, there were quite questionable statements by an executive officer. After a video of it became public, the police announced that they would investigate the matter.

Specifically, it is about the phrases like: "If you are stupid, everyone gets locked up", "get out" and - on a reply from a young man that the official couldn't behave like this, the officer said "Des is mein Land" ("This is my country"). The statements may have been made during a police operation in Vienna-Ottakring, where the police intervened in a fight. A witness was filming out of a window.
After a video of it landed on social media, the State Police of Vienna wrote on Twitter: "Such statements by a police officer are of course not tolerable, so we will forward the video for review."

Vienna police are investigating the incident
A police spokesman said that the incident would now be investigated. The colleague first had to be asked about the assignment, and they also wanted to check what exactly was written about it.

Actors in urban politics also spoke up promptly: For example, the FPÖ lead candidate Dominik Nepp wrote on Twitter: "Where's the problem? The policeman is absolutely right. No more left-wing police bashing." Team HC top candidate Heinz-Christian Strache, in turn, criticizes the journalist Florian Klenk, who published the video: Apparently, the "left-hand fancy" does not notice what "strains our police officers are exposed to every day".
