If Abraham Lincoln Had a Time-Machine

Written by John (the other John).

In these crazy days that we live in, I began to wonder, what if Abraham Lincoln in 1858 had a time-machine to see the future. If he did, he would see:
  • A Civil War was fought to end slavery (Democrats for slavery, Republicans against slavery)
  • 620,000 Americans got killed fighting in the Civil War
  • Of which 360,000 were white Union soldiers
  • He got assassinated
  • Slavery completely ended after his assassination
  • The Democrats opposed the 13th, 14th, and 15th Amendments to the US Constitution
  • The Democrats ended Reconstruction
  • The Democrats began the KKK
  • The Democrats enacted Jim Crow laws
  • The Democrats segregated the Federal Departments
  • By the 1960’s, African Americans became pro-Democrat, and anti-Republican because of government welfare programs
  • By 2017, a violent political group named Black Lives Matter joined extremist Democrats to tear down statues of Confederate soldiers
  • By 2020, Black Lives Matter joined the same extremist Democrats to tear down statues of George Washington and Thomas Jefferson (both slave owners)
  • By 2020, Black Lives Matter joined the same extremist Democrats to tear down statues of me (Abraham Lincoln, the Great Emancipator)
  • By 2020, Black Lives Matter joined the same extremist Democrats to tear down statues of Ulysses Grant (Union General In Civil War)
By this point, would Abe be thinking to himself while inside his time-machine:
WTF? Tearing down statues of me? I began a War to give your ancestors freedom. 360,000 white Unionists got killed to give your ancestors freedom. I got assassinated at a young age, to never see my family again, just to give your ancestors freedom. And 100 years later their descendants joined the same Democratic Party that enslaved them, then persecuted them after the War. Then 155 years later they tear down statues of me? What a bunch of f—k—g ingrates.
It is 1858 now. What should I do? Or what should I not do.”
