The Metamorphosis of Critical Race Theory: From “Kill the Indian, and Save the Man”, to “Kill the Whiteness, and Save the Man”

Written by John (the other John).

In 1879, US cavalry Captain Richard Henry Pratt opened a “boarding school” (i.e., compulsory re-education camp) that was a government-backed school that forcibly took native Indian kids from their parents so they would be re-educated for the purpose to “kill the Indian, and save the man”. This of course did not mean to literally kill the Indian as a person, but rather to kill the Indianness within the person and to convert him to become more Anglo-American; the theory being that Indianness was inferior to Anglicaness (the causation being the inferior systems in place by their culture, their family life, and by their way of governing). Indian parents fiercely resisted these efforts to indoctrinate their kids, but this was to no avail. The consequence of this was that many of these kids were traumatized for life for essentially renouncing their way of life and customs. Despite that, this school served as a model for nearly 150 more such schools in the subsequent decades to “civilize the savage” (and thus to replace them). Basically, this racially-biased policy broke the bonds with the kids’ culture, their families, and their community with this “re-education training”.

How is this relevant today in 2021? Today with “Critical Race Theory” (CRT), there is an effort for compulsory re-education by government-backed schools for the purpose to “kill the whiteness, and save the man”. Much like above, this is not to literally kill the white person, but to kill the “whiteness” within the person and convert him to become more woke; the theory being that “whiteness” was inferior to wokeness (the causation being the inferior systems in place by their culture, their family life, and by their way of governing). White parents fiercely resisted these efforts to indoctrinate their kids, but this was to no avail. The consequence of this is that many of these kids will be traumatized for life for essentially renouncing their way of life and customs. Despite that, such schools are a model for the woke Leftist establishment in the efforts to “civilize the racist” (and thus to replace them). Basically, this racially-biased policy is breaking the bonds with our culture, our families, and our communities with this “re-education training”.

So when you compare these two horrific events nearly 140 years apart, you will see that the modern CRT that oppresses whites is nothing more than a facsimile reproduction of the original CRT that oppressed Indians. And who better than Biden to plagiarize somebody else’s ideas.
