Germany: Head of the airport association calls for "large-scale immigration"

The president of the airport association ADV, Stefan Schulte, calls for a more liberal immigration policy.

Berlin - "We need large-scale immigration - normal workers who are currently missing in Germany," Schulte told the Mannheimer Morgen. "We will have to open up to non-European markets," said Schulte, who is also CEO of Germany's largest airport in Frankfurt. What is needed is an immigration culture and a suitable legal regulation that thinks far beyond the current staff shortages.

"All sectors groan under the shortage of personnel. We are a long way from just looking for IT workers and engineers", Schulte justified his request. He emphasized: "We also need people for the simple jobs."

The labor market threatens to become the biggest brake on growth, said the ADV President. Schulte called the current political hurdles for hiring people from outside Europe "much too complex and lengthy". So you can't get any skilled workers from outside the EU.
