Multiculturalism in Heidelberg: attack with fists and beer bottle

Heidelberg - The fear of many women became reality for a 19-year-old in June: when she did not respond to a stranger approaching her, the man became brutal – and attacked her in downtown Heidelberg at night, injuring her with blows and broken glass.

Now it was possible to create an identikit of the perpetrator with the help of the young woman's statement.

The woman from Heidelberg was on her way home at around 3:25 a.m. on June 12, 2022 when the stranger spoke to her at Adenauerplatz. She tried to ignore him, just kept walking. He ran after her, talking to her.

Then he became brutal: Without warning, the man pushed the woman over a waist-high wall, she fell, injuring herself. The attacker ran to the 19-year-old and threatened with his clenched fist.

Police spokesman Dennis Häfner: "When the young woman got up and walked on, he pushed her again against a door and parked bicycles. Here, too, she was injured.”

But that was not the end of it: the attacker also threw a beer bottle at his victim. It burst in front of the woman's feet, splinters splashed up and cut her legs.

Did the sight of the bleeding wounds bring him to his senses? In any case, the man left the 19-year-old shortly afterwards and fled.
