German Interior Minister Faeser regrets his champagne appearance in Kyiv

"In the evening we were invited to the ambassador's place and with the mayor of Kiev, Klitschko, and in the end we chose the same drink as he did," reported the minister. "I wouldn't do that anymore. Because that expresses something that is inappropriate when you come from another country.”
Faeser sharply rejected a comparison with the CDU politician and former chancellor candidate Armin Laschet. Laschet was filmed laughing in July 2021 shortly after the flood disaster in the Ahr Valley during a speech by Federal President Frank-Walter Steinmeier. He was then met with severe criticism, since the head of state had spoken about the flood victims there at precisely that moment.
