Baerbock's new dubious cash injection for the Palestinians

German Foreign Minister Baerbock promises the Palestinians an additional 50 million euros. But the tax money goes primarily to an organization that stirs up hatred of Jews among children and glorifies acts of terrorism.

Amman / Berlin - German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock (Greens) announced on Thursday evening in Jordan that Germany would increase its support for the civilian population in the Gaza Strip. To this end, she is providing emergency aid worth 50 million euros, she emphasized in the presence of her Jordanian counterpart Ayman al-Safadi in the capital Amman.

The money is intended to support organizations such as the World Food Program, Unicef, but above all the United Nations Palestinian Relief Agency (UNRWA). But for years UNRWA has stood for an education system that prepares children in the Gaza Strip to go to war against Israel.

Baerbock: “We don’t finance terror”
Even without the fresh money, Germany is currently UNRWA's second largest donor. Last year, the Federal Republic paid $202 million to the organization. After Hamas' terrorist attack on Israel, there was initially discussion about stopping payments. The SPD-led Federal Development Ministry wanted to check them. Baerbock is now rushing forward and doing the opposite.

Schools run by the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Middle East have already served as weapons depots and rocket launch sites, and anti-Semitic content has been spread in textbooks for years, as Die Welt reported in 2021. The UNRWA curriculum stipulates that third graders learn songs that say that the “enemy” should be driven out of the country by sacrificing their own blood. And terrorist attacks are taught to children as a necessary tool in the violent struggle for the liberation of Palestine.

“Of course we don’t finance terror,” Baerbock emphasized on ZDF’s “heute journal” on Tuesday last week. However, through a “special request” of Israel, a review of the financial aid was had to be made. She has now even increased the financial aid by 25 percent.
