More manipulation from ZDF

ZDF has done it again. The television production "Blackout without nuclear power?" was probably not illustrated dramatically enough for the makers. Without further ado, instead of the little white clouds that normally hover over the cooling towers of nuclear power plants, dark plumes of smoke were added to the picture, which would have been a credit to a volcano. Manipulative reporting?

In a statement, ZDF rejects the allegations against the image. The show deals with the question of "whether there is a risk of a blackout without electricity from gas and nuclear power," the broadcaster is quoted as saying. "In the context of this live stream, the marked term blackout stood for concerns about grid stability and power supply during a dark doldrums - combined with the question of whether nuclear power can protect us from this."

But why doesn't ZDF mount the threatening darkness over a solar park? So the broadcaster has to put up with the accusation of wanting to fool the viewer. It would not be the first time. As early as January, the ZDF report “EU classifies nuclear power and gas as sustainable” also showed cooling towers that apparently emit clouds of dark smoke.

At that time, too, those responsible denied any manipulative intent. Allegedly, the graphic artist placed a dark layer over the image to make the writing on it more readable. "Unfortunately, this layer was incorrectly positioned," the broadcaster justified at the time to image. And with “wrong positions”, so it seems to the viewer, the broadcaster is familiar with it.

The citizen needs a guiding hand
The most recent ZDF report takes up the topic in a very differentiated manner and also allows proponents of nuclear power to have their say. Probably too much openness for the picture editors.

This distrust, that the public doesn't really know what's good for them, but that they have to teach them anew every day, is repeatedly demonstrated by those responsible for broadcasting. Every time they grab this citizen with the power of the state in his pocket so that he is forced to finance the huge apparatus with well-paid jobs and early retirements.
