Knife attack on police in Dortmund: African shot by the police
A resident called the police around 4 p.m. "The caller stated that a young man was walking around the church grounds in a worrying manner with a knife," said senior prosecutor Carsten Dombert. As a result, several patrol cars with a total of ten officers drove to the site.
There, the young man is said to have waved a knife around and threatened to ram it in his stomach. The cops use a taser to incapacitate the foreigner. But that didn't work, and the 16-year-old threw himself on the officers with his stabbing weapon. Then came the fatal shots. The attacker collapsed with serious injuries and died a little later during the emergency operation in the hospital.
How often the officials shot and how often they hit the youth is still unclear. It is clear that no police officer was injured in the attack.
Fatal police shots: Third case in six days
The incident in Dortmund was the third fatal use of firearms by police officers in six days. On Tuesday a week ago, officials shot dead a 23-year-old homeless man in the train station district of Frankfurt am Main, who is said to have threatened guests in a hotel. A day later, police officers in Cologne killed a 48-year-old tenant during the forced eviction of an apartment. He also attacked officers with a knife. Police used pepper spray on the man before the fatal shooting.
